SKILLS FOR SUCCESS
Skills for Success is a new, improved educational program beginning across NDG in January, 2019. Our purpose is to transfer five key skills to our students by the time they graduate from middle school. These five skills include: literacy in Spanish, strong math abilities, technology skills, English language competency, and the building of emotional-intelligence which will serve them in all areas of life.
NDG HIGH SCHOOL
Starting in 2019, Niños de Guatemala will extend its middle school graduates the option to continue their schooling with NDG High School, an afternoon online program offered in our school computer lab. Students will receive a high school diploma in Computation, recognized by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education. Middle school graduates can also access additional scholarships for continued study in local private high schools and training programs such as the GOOD Academy!
FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM
We provide our students and their families with a Family Support Program, including social work visits, therapy, and self-esteem programs. This program is fundamental to the change that we are trying to bring to the communities we serve. Our students and their families depend on these programs to acquire skills regarding basic health and hygiene and other knowledge that improves the family’s wellbeing.
OUR SOCIAL BUSINESSES
We aim to be sustainable at both the organizational and community level. To do this, we initiate and support social business activities and foster an entrepreneurial spirit. NDG currently operates two social businesses in Antigua: Impact Language and Impact Experiences. Both businesses donate 100% of profits to the Niños de Guatemala schools to better support our students.
PARTNERSHIP WITH GOOD GROUP
Niños de Guatemala is committed to partnering with businesses and embracing an entrepreneurial spirit. We provide workforce training to our students and parents, and partner with social business to create a sustainable organization. The social business model of Good Group provides a unique Good Training program to parents of our students. Besides the Good Training, they also provide the Good Academy to five chosen students from NDG on a yearly basis.
