My name is Mynor, I am 16 years old and graduated Básico in Ciudad Vieja this November. I am one of the five graduates chosen to attend the first Good Academy.
My parents are proud of me for graduating and for being chosen for this opportunity. Without it, I would not be able to continue my education. With this scholarship, I will be able to support my parents in the future. I was responsible for serving beverages to attendees during the NDG 10-year Anniversary Gala at the famous Saúl Mendez restaurant, attending to all the guests during the evening. This was my first time being in such a fancy restaurant, and my first time interacting closely with Guatemalans from different social classes.
Opening a door towards a brighter future
While studying at Niños de Guatemala, I’ve learned to be respectful to other people, to take responsibility and to be punctual, but above all I have learned that you have to work hard for what you want. I am proud that I applied myself and graduated secondary school. There is still a long road ahead to achieving my dream of owning my own hotel, but I am thankful for the support and training of Good Academy to empower me to do so. I will be able to provide my future children with a good education, a stable home environment and meaningful jobs. For me, this opportunity has opened a door towards a brighter future.
